A new year, a new set of goals to work on throughout it. For those that know me, I don’t set resolutions, as I feel that these just get broken. Instead I have goals that I can work on throughout the year.
At the end of last year, I wasn’t 100% myself. So for 2017, I want to concentrate on me and my health; and the goals I have planned will help achieve this.
Goal 1 – Healthy eating
This is something that I started last year, but I want to improve further in 2017.
As part of last year’s goal to reduce my body fat, and also due to health reasons, I started to look closer at what I ate. There are already certain things that I have removed from my diet (energy drinks), or only have on occasions (fizzy drinks…with alcohol). Additionally, there are things that I have started to eat a lot more of (fruity and veg).
For 2017, I want to look at expanding the healthier food options. I want to look at the type of foods that I cook, and do more home-made cooking. I’ve already purchased ‘Lean in 15’ by the Body Coach and I’m looking forward to trying out some of the recipes.
Although, this doesn’t mean that I’m quitting stuff that is ‘bad’ for you. I know I will occasionally have chocolates, KFC or cake (I love to bake cakes). It’s about moderation over quitting.
Goal 2 – Sleep better
I am a night owl. I have been since I can remember. Throw in a bit of insomnia and you having my sleeping pattern nearly nailed.
This means that during the week, the amount of sleep that I get range between 3-5 hours, normally the lower end, which isn’t healthy.
This year I want to improve my sleep pattern and aim for around 6-7 hours sleep a night.
Although, it would be unrealistic to expect this to happen every night, but the plan is for it to become more common.
Goal 3 – Professional improvement
This year, I want to build on last year’s goal to increase on my technical knowledge.
There are three things that I would like to achieve in 2017 in relation to my professional career.
- Increase confidence by developing my coding further
- Finish my website
- Write a few professional blogs (for the website)
Look at that; goals within goals. It’s gonna be a busy year!
Goal 4 – Dental hygiene
Before I start, I want to stress that I don’t have teeth like Queen Elizabeth I. I brush my teeth regularly like you should.
However, I haven’t always looked after them as good as I should. Add the fact that I use to smoke and had severe gum disease, this has led to two main things that I hate about them now…the gaps and colour.
So for 2017, I would like to make sure that I improve my detail hygiene. Eventually, I would like to see about getting my teeth whitened.
Goal 5 – Buy the flat
So this year, I turn the big 4-0, and there is one thing I would like to achieve before then, is to be the owner of my own property.
So this year, the husby and I have decided that we are going to look at buying the flat. Having lived here for 16 years, the discount is too good to miss.
Additionally, it’s a great investment. Apart from the discount, it’s close to the city and the area is going through a huge renovation.
It would be too good an opportunity to miss.
Goal 6 – Improve variety of blogs
For another year, I’ve neglected this website, and it’s been a little frustrating. The variety of 2016 blogs basically consisted on ‘Today is all about’ monthly updates.
There have been a few times where I’ve thought about writing a blog. There are times where I’ve written a draft blog, but then decided not to post it. Call it procrastination. Call it laziness.
Ideally, I would like to do at least an extra blog a month, but realistically I know my work and life schedule means that this wont happen. So I’m going to try to achieve 5-6 extra blogs this year.
