2018 Goals – The Review
|As the doors to 2018 closes, I think it is fair to say that it had been a good year for the husby and I, generally.
We’ve spent it with family and friends; been lucky enough to go on three amazing holidays abroad (Greece, Disneyland Paris and Gran Canaria); had several weekends away; adopted a cat from Greece; watched two of our best friends (Bill & Carl) get married, and bought our first home together. 2019 definitely has a lot to live up to!

Each year, instead of setting new year resolutions, I set myself goals, on things I would like to try and achieve throughout the year. I originally wasn’t going to do any goals for 2018, but I changed my mind at the last minute. Well February is the last minute, right?
At the end of the year, or I am gonna be honest, the beginning of the next year, I like to look back on what goals I have set and see what I have achieved…or not!
Goal 1 – Crossfit

Last year, saw me try a new exercise regime and begin doing Crossfit, and I loved it! The goal for 2018
I’d say that I have challenged myself more, although honestly not always to my full. I’ve seen vast improvements in technique and strength, and even getting PBs, which is what I wanted to achieve.
In the process, I’ve seen a big difference in myself both physically and mentally. Physically, I am the best that I have ever been and with that comes the confidence that I’ve not really felt before.
My attitude towards my body and weight is something that I have addressed over the socials before, so to have this mental change about how I see myself is a really positive change.
Goal 2 – Declutter the flat

At the end of 2017, we were in the process of buying the flat, so I set a goal to declutter the place of 15 years of crap!
Amazing on how things change. We scrapped buying the flat, as the company couldn’t organise a piss-up in a brewery!
Instead we found a house that we fell in love with and bought that instead!
So what did that mean for this goal? A full house declutter had to happen, and it felt so invigorating.
As we were downsizing slightly, a lot was trashed/given to charity. I even think I got rid of half my wardrobe. Although, after moving into the house it is clear that we still have some more decluttering to do before we’re finished.
Goal 3 – Professional development

Each year, I have some sort of goal in relation to professional
Generally, the year has been really good professional wise. I have successfully completed my first project as a front-end lead, and I also saw my confidence grow tenfold.
Although, there has been times where my confidence has taken a tumble, but I plan to work on that. I’ve also made the decision that I don’t want senior role responsibility…just yet.
Goal 4 – Personal development

For 2018, I wanted to think about myself more, ignore the gossip and not be afraid to ask for help. It was quite a weird goal to set and measure, as the things that I outlined didn’t really arise for me to tackle it.
I think it can be said, apart from how much of a good year that I’ve had, is that I’ve got an amazing group of friends. And together, we’ve made some great memories throughout 2018.
Goal 5 – Sort out the websites

For 2018, I planned to sort out my personal and professional websites, and move them to a new hosting partner as the previous was like someone forgot to put a penny in the electrcity meter!
Well as you can see, I have moved my personal site to a new hosting company and this is up and running.
However, my professional site is on hold for the moment, as I don’t have time to set it up and start looking at creating content. Although, maybe this is something that I can work on soon.
Goal 6 – Use my laptop

Well it is fair to say, that I’ve hardly used my laptop in 2018, and has become the most expensive paperweight that I’ve ever bought.
Instead, I have relied on my trusty old computer, to do everything that I want to do.
However, I have started the process of sorting out what I want to transfer from the computer to the laptop, but it is a slow process.
I still plan to swap to the laptop in 2019, as I have a few things planned so need to sort that out ASAP!
