So we are a couple of weeks into 2019, so admit it, who has already broken their new year resolutions? I know a few of you have fallen when it comes to dry January. I won’t even commit to that, because I’d know I’d fail!
As some of you know, I don’t set new year resolutions because I always feel that these are more likely to be broken, as you aren’t always ready to do what you want to do on the 1st January.
Instead, I set myself goals; which are things that I would like to achieve throughout the year. I don’t need to start them straight away, so hopefully I’m less likely to fail. Although, that’ doesn’t always happen!
This year, I’ve reeled back the number of goals that I am setting for 2019. I prefer to go with quality over quantity, and all that malarkey! So here are my goals for 2019:
Goal 1 – Make a house a home
At the end of 2019, we did adulting things and bought our own house. I know, I’ve kept that quiet cause nobody knew!
Prior to moving in, we got the majority of the decorating complete and the place does feel like a home. However, there are still a number of jobs around the house that need to be done before fully coming a home:
- New kitchen floor needs to be laid
- Garden needs landscaping
- Loft needs to be sorted
And if we’re lucky, we’re gonna try and sort out the spare room/office as well.
Goal 2 – Professional development
My new year goals wouldn’t be the same if I didn’t have some sort of goal towards bettering myself in a professional manner.
Last year, there really wasn’t a means to measure how I succeeded; you just had to believe me when I said I did it. So this year, I want to show growth professional in a number of ways:
- Doing a number of course to help improve my skills.
- Learn something new – at the moment this looks like it’ll be React
- Build a website – using my skills and knowledge. My husby’s need updating so that would be a start.
Goal 3 – Fitness continues
Fitness is something that I enjoy doing and it makes me feel happy…especially after you’ve had a crapday.
While reviewing 2018 Goals, I mentioned that I have seen a big difference in myself both physically and mentally when it came to my body. This doesn’t mean that I am 100% happy with how I look. Are any of us?
I will continue with Crossfit as I’m enjoying it. And I will continue to push myself further. Saying that, we’re 2 weeks into the new year and I’ve still not been yet. Oops!
An area of my body I feel still needs work, is my chest. I don’t want/expect to be massive, but just some more shape and definition would be nice. So this year, this is what I am going to try and do.
Goal 4 – Bring back organisation
When it comes to my computer (e.g. photos, music) I used to have a real strict sense of organisation. The rest of my life was just organised chaos!
However, over the past year, I’ve let everything slip and now I feel like it’s a huge pile of toys that Trump has thrown out of his pram, and I have been given the responsibility to sort them all out. You know, it is such this daunting task, and you don’t know where to start.
I want to start sorting it all out as soon as possible, because if I leave it anymore I fear for my own sanity…well what I’ve got left anyway!
