Today is all about…February 2024

While the month of love had an extra day this year, it didn’t stop February from speeding by!

February has been full of LGBT+ news, not always on the right side of happiness.

Brianna

Brianna Ghey’s murderers lost their anonymity and were both sentenced to life in prison. Good!

They didn’t deserve the anonymity, but they don’t deserve the notoriety either!

The only name to remember, from here on, is Brianna Ghey. Rest in Pride.

Trans attack

The ink on Brianna’s news reports hasn’t even dried and there has already been an attempted murder of another trans girl! She was stabbed 14 times while rollerskating!

When will this stop? Because clearly murder isn’t it?

Ghana

While Ghana doesn’t have a good history when it comes to LGBT+ rights, it doesn’t mean they want to stop there.

Ghana has passed a bill that will send you to prison for purely identifying as LGBT+! Or even showing support!

We’ve been here before with Ghana, but the bill wasn’t signed by the president. Fingers crossed this happens again!

Greece

However, love is definitely in the air for Greece.

Greece has become the next, and the first Christian Orthodox major country, to legalise same-sex marriage and adoption.

So not all is lost…thankfully!

Talking Points

Physio

I’ve been experiencing shoulder pain since the push-up challenge and it’s about time that I got it seen too!

Several months have passed and the shoulder pain has been up and down with mobility restrictions, and the occasional dull pain or pins & needles.

I’ve finally bitten the bullet and sorted out some physio sessions.

I’ll be honest, the sessions have been a little hit-and-miss!

At the start, I felt like I was getting better, and then the last few weeks I’ve been waking up with aches and pain. And mobility has been worse!

At the end of the physio block, it was advised that I would need more sessions and I declined.

I just felt that the main issue (sports injury) was being ignored. The concentration appeared to be on me having a desk job and my posture!

So, I may look at getting a sports massage/second opinion!

20 years!

February also saw the husby and I celebrate 20 years of being together.

Who would have thought of it? It’s true, some people were vocal about it not lasting. I think the point has been proved, don’t you think?

It was just a low key event , as the Husby was working a late shift.

However, we still made time for a date of some 10-pin bowling and scran.

Sometimes those are just the best kind of dates.

Mum’s 70th

Valentine’s Day is also my mum’s birthday. This year she’s celebrating her 70th with a wee party.

For this special occasion, I didn’t know what to wear, so I decided to do an ASOS haul, which included some questionable choices!

However, a decision has been made, and I went for a blue crushed velvet rock look

Getting to the party was an adventure in itself, as Google Maps was not being our friend as it tried to navigate us to the venue.

As we were getting close with the venue now in view on the map, Google decided that we needed a little adventure and started to take us down small country lanes!

It took us down some dirt track that had more potholes that would put a government manifesto to shame!

Then we got to a certain point where we couldn’t go any further because there was a lock gates, because it was private land! Then Google moked us by not providing an alternative route.

Luckily out of the group, someone (that would be me) has an Apple phone and Apple Maps came and saved the day!

Picture of mum and I

The night itself, was great. It was nice to catch up with some friends and family, and some memorable moments were made.

Such as the husby failing badly at the Cha Cha Slide and ending up collapsing on the floor and the niece trying to get him back up. Or when my brother leant on the table, folding it in half and everything spewing all over the floor!

Reaching 70 is no mean feat. Especially when you are bringing up three lads! I know that Mum will be receiving a lot of flowers, jewellery and similar gifts, so I wanted to get her something that she hasn’t done before.

So in the Spring/Summer, we’re going for a trip in a Helicopter!
