The theme of August’s Bear of the Month is to co-incide with the sailing event that is happening in Hartlepool this month (technically this weekend) which Bad Taste Bears are attending.
Let’s discuss the name…I didn’t get it. I had to Google it to find out why the bear was called Jerry. It’s after a famous tattooist (and alcoholic drink) called Sailor Jerry. At first I thought there could have been a more fitting name that could have been used to recognise the sailor theme, but after reading up on Sailor Jerry and learning that one of his pieces is an anchor then it started to feel a little more fitting.
Now for the bear itself; like the name, I don’t get it! Firstly, the look of the bear is so wrong. The furless body gives me the impression of an unhappy dog after they have had their body shaved and over-exaggerated their furred head.
Finally there is the play on words (the ‘w’ on the stomach and the anchor) is just plain tack-o-ramma.
As you can tell, I’m not a fan of Jerry. Personally would have preferred another bear that had no connection with the event than this.
