The latest mini-range from Bad Taste Bears has now been released by OddCo. Going off the success of the Bride and Groom figurines and their Celebrity Zombie event, we are seeing the zombies return and overtake the brand. However this time, they are more gruesome.
There are currently six figurines within the range, with three released now and the additional ones to follow later:
A great figurine with the pose typical of a B-movie horror flick! I love the small details that Pete has included such as snot hanging from the nose of the bear

The bear is also a fantastic nod to where the zombie drags themselves along the floor towards their victim.
Although technically half a bear and the same price as the cheapest, will no doubt have people questioning this. But you can kind of let them get away with it as the detail is far better than the standard range.

Yep, you have guessed it. I like this bear too.
Another great detail to the mini-ranges is the colours of the bears are not always the same. It gives it a feel that some have been dead longer and decomposition has kicked in.

I have also got to applaud OddCo for upping the marketing campaign around the mini-range. The company’s website and blog were updated inline with the mini-range branding. There were also a number of other things done to heighten the buzz. Personally, some worked and some didn’t.
The blog had a week of daily news flashes about the bear invasion and this just didn’t work for me. The story was not strong enough that I felt the urge to go back and read what was happening next. Plus it also appeared to have been missing something…such as images.
The forum saw all members appear as dead and then changed to either a survivor or undead (at random) after purchasing the bears in the store. I am a survivor, but I don’t use the forum anymore but I did pop on to see what they thought of the change and there was definitely and air of excitement after the changes.
Finally to complete the launch, there was a promotion that if you purchased the first set of three bears then you had a 50/50 chance of winning a variation bear where only 220 were produced. The other variations of the mini-range set would appear as items to buy in store or as prizes in another competition.
I was lucky enough to win the variation bear.
Life Is Such A Drag (Phantom)
We have had glow in the dark, metallic and silver screen among others, so it wouldn’t be long bear we saw the clear figurines. Okay technically it’s still got a little colour, but it’s the ghost effect that seems sort of fitting for this range.
Now my opinion…I am not a fan. The detail of the bear has been lost within the variation. Plus the colour just seems irrelevant. I don’t think I will bother getting the other variations. In fact, I may even sell the one that I have.
Overall, I thought 7 Deadly Sins would be a difficult range to beat, but I think it has been done with Dawn Of The Ted. And I wouldn’t be surprised if further additions were added to the range in the future.
