The Bears Nuts Weekend – Colonial Nuts

Incase you hadn’t noticed, I am a Bad Taste Bears collector. As well as collecting these critters, I am also a moderator for a fan site The Bears Nuts.

Over the last couple of years, the members have become friends, so over the years we have tried to meet up once a year for a good old fashioned piss-up, but also with a side line to raise money for charity and good causes.

This year so the Nutters (as we are called) invaded Blackpool for the third time. We took over The Colonial Hotel.

The Friday night was mainly a catch up session between the collectors and also where I make a tit of myself. Talking of tits, I did get attached to one that night. No doubt once I have uploaded the pics you will see what I mean!!!

Saturday evening was the main bit of the weekend, and this year we decided that it would be fancy dress with the theme being Movie & Films. For some strange reason I thought it would be good to dress up as Dorothy (from Wizard of Oz). At least I made people laugh and that was the most important thing.

For the majority of the evening I was running around like a blue arse fly helping with a few of the activities that we had organised, but that’s how I prefer it to be honest.

I also had a few firsts that evening. It was the first time dressed as a woman and have to say I quite like heels if I. Also the first time at karaoke, which is probably gonna be the last as I was awful!!! Saying that I did win 2nd prize for karaoke, but I believe that was more out of sympathy than anything.

For 2007 we have been raising money for George House Trust, an HIV charity for the North West, and Sat evening saw us raising a further £493 for them bringing the current total to over £3,600 which is not only an excellent amount, but also the most we have raised in a year for a specific charity or good cause.

After all the activities were completed, and I had done my speech at the ends (thank yous, amount raised etc etc), I was then able to sit down and relax, which also meant the drinks start to flow a lot quicker. Before long I was a little bit merrier and having a dance off with a fellow collector in 3″ heels.

Overall, I have to say I had a cracking weekend, and The Colonial Nuts has definitely been one of the best weekends away with The Bears Nuts that’s for sure. I can’t wait until the next one if I have to be honest!!!
