CrossStitch 2022

A look back at the completed cross-stitch work that I did during 2022.

Disney Villians

ElCrossStitch
23 October 2021 – 13 January 2022

Additional information
I absolutely loved doing this pattern, as it was just little designs rolled into one.

Although, I made a error and ripped the fabric, but I was able to cover it up, and you can hardly tell there was an issue.

This was a housewarming gift for a good friend

Completed cross-stitch of small Disney Villians in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head

Completed cross-stitch of a Mona Lisa's head

Mona Lisa

CrossStitchObsession
? – 30 January 2022

Additional information
While I may not be an expert when it comes to art, I do love it. I just liked the idea of creating classic masterpieces in miniature form.

I bought a couple of these masterpieces to complete.

Starry Night

CrossStitchObsession
16 hours 38 mins
2 February 2022 – 28 February 2022

Additional information
While I may not be an expert when it comes to art, I do love it. Van Gogh is one of my favourite artists.

I just liked the idea of creating classic masterpieces in miniature form.

Completed cross-stitch of Van Gogh's Starry Night

Completed cross-stitch of a Disney's Bambi

Disney Bambi

Tesco
5 hours 17 mins
24 April – 25 April 2022

Additional information
This kit was a gift, and while I think these kits are great for beginners, they are awful quality. I absolutely hated stitching this fabric.

I also made a stupid mistake that I didn’t read the instructions properly. Instead of the normal 2 strand stitch, this kit uses 3 strands, so my Bambi looks a little thin!

Disney Bambi

Tesco
7 hours 40 mins
25 April 2022 – 1 May 2022

Additional information
The kit that was given as gift, included two kits. Bambi was the second kit in the box.

This time, I learnt to use the 3 strands as instructed, so Thumper looks a little better

Completed cross-stitch of Disney's Thumper

Completed cross-stitch of a diamond made of blue pink and white colours

Sparkle Diamond

Own design
18 hours 39 mins
4 May 2022 – 19 May 2022

Additional information
So I had an idea to use the diamond logo from Sparkle to create a pattern and place it on a t-shirt. So this was my concept, and taking into account I had no idea what I was doing, I was quite proud of how it came out.

The plan is to sort out the pattern and place it on sale with all profits going to the charity

Sparkle Diamond T-shirt

Own design
22 hours 55 mins
3 July 2022 – 9 July 2022

Additional information
After my successful attempt at creating and stitching my design, it was now time to stitch onto an item of clothing. The first time I have ever done anything like this.

It wasn’t 100% successful (as it was slightly offset), but it worked and I did get a few compliments when I wore it to the Sparkle Weekend

Completed cross-stitch of a diamond made of blue pink and white colours on a white t-shirt

Completed cross-stitch of a Csaying "Happiness is not by chance, but by choice"

Happiness is not by chance

Aldi
43 hours 52 mins
20 May 2022 – 21 August 2022

Additional information
This was another supermarket kit, and unlike the Tesco one completed earlier in the year, this was bigger, better quality and a lot cheaper.

Popcorn the Bear card

World of Cross Stitching
13 hours 20 mins
11 October 2022 – 23 October 2023

Additional information
This kit was a gift as part of the World of Cross Stitching magazine.

To be honest, I forgot that I did it when I was collating my work for the website.

Completed cross-stitch of a teddy bear card

Completed cross-stitch of a 2022 Christmas decoration - the zero in 2022 has been replaced with a monkey's head wearing a Santa hat. There is a saying that says "What doesn't kill you, teams up with monkeypox and tries again"

Xmas 2022

BeverlyStreetShop
6 hours 26 mins
28 October 2023 – 30 October 2023

Additional information
This has become an annual tradition now, where I try and find a year Xmas decoration with an inkling of what was happening that year.

Monkeypox was what we dealt with in 2022!

Happy Holigays Xmas Card

World of Cross Stitching
11 hours 24 mins
17 November 2022 – 20 November 2022

Additional information
When I saw these kits in the World of Cross Stitching, I thought they would be good to stitch, so I decided to do some forever Xmas cards for some friends and family.

Can you spot which ones were for friends?

Completed cross-stitch of a Christmas tree made of colourful vertical stripes and the saying "Happy Holidays" underneath

Completed cross-stitch of a Christmas tree made of colourful roes of triangles and the saying "Bah Humbug" underneath

Bah Humbug Xmas Card

World of Cross Stitching
5 hours 53 mins
20 November 2022 – 22 November 2022

Additional information
These forever cards were my second attempt at using black Aida fabric. The colours do really pop on darker fabrics.

Happy Holidays Xmas Card

World of Cross Stitching
8 hours 21 mins
25 November 2022 – 27 November 2022

Additional information
This was also the first time using meticalic threads and coming up with the text for each card.

A lot of planning went in to trying to get the text central to the tree.

Completed cross-stitch of a Christmas tree made of colourful vertical stripes and the saying "Happy Holidays" underneath

Completed cross-stitch of a Christmas tree made of colourful triangles and the saying "Ho Ho Homo" underneath

Ho Ho Homo Xmas Card

World of Cross Stitching
10 hours 24 mins
27 November 2022 – 3 December 2022

Additional information
I can safely say that I am not a fan of the metallic threads as they are not the easiest to stitch with.

You also need to stitch with short lengths of threads. Too long, and they threads fray.

Jingle Bells Xmas Card

World of Cross Stitching
11 hours 9 mins
3 December 2022 – 10 December 2022

Additional information
The times showing for the forever cards is the time that it took to complete the stitching. It doesn’t including any of the additional work that went into the project

Completed cross-stitch of a Christmas tree made of colourful geometric triangles and the saying "Jingle Bells" underneath

Completed cross-stitch of a Christmas tree made of colourful stripes and the saying "Merry Christmas" underneath

Merry Christmas Xmas Card

World of Cross Stitching
8 hours 8 mins
10 December 2022 – 22 December 2022

Additional information
I am not a festive person but I quite enjoyed doing these cards. Although, I wasn’t a fan of trying to get everything completed within a deadline.
