Today is all about…April 2023

Summary:

A daily photo project turned diary, “Today is all about…” has grown over the years. What did April 2023 bring?

I have been going through a severe case of CBA, and while I wrote the April update in the middle of last month, I have done fuck all since.

So here I am, finally trying to get my ass into gear!

Me, Myself & I

Talking Points

ChippyTuesday™

We’re known for our ChippyTuesday™, but after a Xmas break, they are back with a vengeance!

April saw us start off with two this month. First with Sash, who I don’t see enough off. Then there was Marc who we are rekindling some friendship that went off track due to someone else!

But both nights were well-needed, and I look forward to further developing these friendships.

As ChippyTuesday™ is now back up and running, we are starting to get requests, so we are slowly getting booked up!

National Trust

You know you are old when one of your Xmas pressies last year was a membership to the National Trust.

And I’m here for it! However, I do feel that visiting these places is more of a seasonal thing, so your annual membership is really 6 months at most!

April saw us use our National Trust membership by going to a free for all event…Castlefield Viaduct.

This place ticks boxes for both of us. Me it’s all about the urban-ness of the place, while for the husby its plants. Granted, at this time of the month, there is hardly any growth!

The viaduct venue is still in the temporary phase, with a decision on what to do next still to be made.

Ideally, it would be nice to see the whole viaduct in use, and also the ability to use it as a pathway in and out of the city.

I enjoyed it though. As I said there wasn’t much growth as it was still early season. So we would like to go back to June/July to see it in full bloom.

While on a weekend away, we actually got to use our membership cards to go to Powis Castle.

I will be honest, I was surprised about how much I enjoyed it. The castle held the largest collection of items in the National Trust properties, which may be explained why you weren’t allowed to take any photos.

It was interesting when the silence was broken by the intermittent UK Emergency Test alert!

The gardens were expanse but a really nice walkthrough. While I may not be a fan of plants/flowers, I can understand the beauty in them.

However, after a trek to get there, I had the opportunity to get a lift home to the lodge, so I took it. It meant that I missed some of the gardens, but I saw enough.

Lodge Weekend

As April was coming to an end, a gaggle of gays decided to go away for a lodge weekend.

Holly Lodge is in Wales and seems to be relatively new. The place was massive, which was lucky as 8 in a small lodge would not have been a pleasurable experience.

I would quite happily have moved in. Purely for the swings, and not the hot tub…honest!

Based in Welshpool, it was located in a quiet, until we arrived, place. The plan for the weekend was to just chill, and enjoy ourselves. Think facials and movie nights. Oh and a lot of hot tubbing!

We went to Shrewsbury one day, where we met up with Matt & Jase. A great time was had, we spend some time walking around and evening visited the oldest pub in Shrewsbury.

The next day, mistakes were made as we decided to walk to Powis Castle. The walk was a lot further than we thought. And we weren’t really dressed to traipse through fields to get there.

Overall, a great weekend was had.
