As December closes the door on 2023, the festivities are now over and the “New Year New Me” mantra is being sung.
Anygays, I shall keep this short and sweet and get stright to it.
TBF, I have a lot to do so I need to be quick
Monthly Highlights
What’s On
I Should Be So Lucky
My non-professional review of I Should Be So Lucky. A new musical, based on the music from Stock Aitken & Waterman.
Me, Myself & I
Push-up Challenge
During November I completed a push-up challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK. So what was it like completing 3000 push-ups in a month?
Fifty before 50
Raising Money for Charity
As part of my Fifty Before 50 bucketlist, I wanted to try and raise some money for charity. This is a place to track how much has been raised over the next few years.
Talking Points
Xmas Parties
December is just an excuse for people to get together, eat their weight in food and have a good old piss-up. All in the name of the JayCee!
This year I attended two Xmas parties. It would have been more, but they overlapped with other stuff that was happening.
Gay City Bowlers
I haven’t been able to attend GCB much this year, as I was either busy or GCB was. Although, I was able to get my ass to the Xmas party.
I always have a laugh at the Xmas party. It’s filled with friendship, laughter and just pure campness.
This year’s activities were hosted by The Lily Savage Experience, who was just a comedic genius!
It was also their role to hand out the awards. This year I came home with a trophy. I’m a winner baby!
My name is now in the calibre of Carol Voderman, Amanda Holden & Denise van Outen. With the thanks of Tesco and their cargo pants, I was awarded “Rear of the Year”!
Work
The final Xmas party that I went to was my works, and this year I was determined to not repeat last year’s escapades!
TBH, I nearly cancelled as I just couldn’t be bothered. There are several reasons for this, but it doesn’t need to be aired. At the end of the day, I went and showed my face. And I had a good time!
The meal was at The Alchemist, which is somewhere that I haven’t been to before, so I was interested to see how it fairs.
There was a large group of us, so we couldn’t all sit together, so a lot of people sat together with their departments or those they work with.
I was sat on the “retrobates” table! Says a lot.
Let’s talk food. It was nice, I enjoyed it. But it was just a glamorised pub meal!
My Xmas meal was turkey goujons and chips in a basket. An actual chicken basket! Like I said, the food was nice, but maybe I was expecting something more from The Alchemist!
Also, they can’t make expresso martinis!
As for a repear of last year, thankfully that didn’t happen!
When you have other colleagues coming up to you and asking “How many bottles of wine have you had now?” is a reputation to be bother proud and ashamed of!
Birthdays
While December is overtaken by Xmas, some unfortunate have birthdays this mon th and struggle to organise stuff between everyone’s busy schedules.
Ashleigh’s 30th
How the heck did that happen?
How has my eldest niece turned 30? I am too young for a 30-year-old niece!

Shut up!
We had a small gathering of friends and family to help celebrate my niece’s birthday.
Granted, it did get off to a very bad start. There was going to be a riot. The bar ran out of Tequila Rose! Rude!
Apart from that, it was a great evening with the family. Granted Mum made enough food to feed a full Bury Football Club stadium of supporters!
My birthday
Honestly, I just wasn’t looking forward to my birthday celebrations. I just left everything to the last minute, and come a few days before I was tempted to cancel it, and just stay at home watching shit on TV!
Generally, I was in a low mood, and the small inconveniences just added to that!
As a December baby, I didn’t want to be a hindrance and make people feel forced that they needed to come out. So I just made a last minute post saying this was the plan.
Taking into account Faceache and it’s shit algorithm, I am not sure who saw. But at least of they did, they didn’t feel forced to say “yes” or “no”. The could literally ignore the post, and I was happy with that.
Additionally, the husby had just finished his training and has starting working his shifts, which meant he couldn’t come out to celebrate either. Honestly, it felt weird that he wasn’t there.
Once I was out, my reservations soon went, and I was having a good time! I had a good time, and a lot of alcohol was consumed, so some of the night was a little hazy!
