It may be a new year, but it’s still the same crock of shit! Let’s be honest, did we really expect January to be anything but?
As the country waited for the Sue Gray report to come out and tell us what we all know, the Met police decided to put a spanner in the works by announcing that they are now going to investigate the parties, after spending weeks saying they wouldn’t because there was a “lack of evidence“.
It just seemed all too convenient, because it smelt like a cover-up in the making. For who, that’s the question.
Number 10 would love a delay so they can continue shitting on the country just that little bit longer.
Or the Met police, because Sue Gray gathered so much evidence, that it actually shows how inept they are at doing their actual fucking job!
Let’s be honest, what made it so difficult for the Met police to go to the officers that were working that time and simply ask “What the fuck is going on?”
It did seem that they were willing to share what they knew.
The report was slightly delayed, but it was released. albeit a watered-down version, as the police requested minimal information about the parties that they are investigating, which was the majority of them.
So while Number 10 and the police tried to cover up as much as possible, there were three noticeable things to come from the report:
- Johnson is a crap leader
- Number 10 is disorganised and dysfuntional
- Sue Gray was pissed that she was silenced
As a country, it showed again, how fucked we are! Our government (on all sides) are as useful as a chocolate teapot. As Poundland Trump dodges the shit, it’s us that have to deal with the crap!
Monthly thought: Goals
With the end of 2021 and the beginning of 2022, January is spent reflecting on past goals and setting new ones. So the normal monthly thought posts are missing this month.
Although, you could see my mini-rant about the Sue Gray report debacle as my monthly thought in some way.
This month talking points
On the fitness train
When it came to my fitness, the beginning of January started off on the wrong foot, due to the birthday injury last month.
I have been struggling with shoulder pain since the incident, so I took time away from the gym to give it extra recovery time.
I had full intention of replacing gym time with running. That way I would still keep the fitness up. So in all the time that I was away, I did 1 run! Granted I got a PB, but still, it’s shocking.
I slowly started to return to the gym trying not to overdo it. However, the shoulder wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Granted there were a few exercises that I struggled with, but I scaled to one that didn’t cause pain.
By the end of the month, I was back to my regular 3-times-a-week visits. And while I still have pain it’s great to be back.
Work update
I generally don’t blog about work, because I like to keep some professional and personal separation. However, January has seen some big changes happening that has affected me, so should be mentioned.
9 day fortnight
We’ve started to trial this working pattern. So while I work extra through the 9 working days, it means that I get the 10th day off.
I still have some reservations about the whole thing, which I have raised, but it really hasn’t been that difficult to adapt.
I’m not a morning person, but getting up and starting work ½ hour earlier was a lot easier than expected.
As for the extra day off, I’m loving it. I feel like I’m being given some time for myself. So I am using it that way. Whether it be catching up on my blogs, or using the time for personal development and training.
It’ll be interesting to see how it all pans out.
Project ends
For the past two years, I have been working on the same project, but as of the end of January, I am no more.
This project has been extremely challenging, and at times it definitely has not been good for my mental health. However, on the flip side, I’d say I have learnt a lot from it.
I won’t lie, I’m happy to be moving onto a new project shortly. For now, I’ve been whored out to another team to assist them with some of their work, which is a nice and refreshing change.
Further home updates
The plans for decorating the home have started again.
The remainder of the carpets in the house have now been replaced. Granted it doesn’t look that big of a difference, because we replaced the grey carpet with another grey carpet.
As well as new carpets being added, we have done a bit of a furniture swap in the spare room, which now feels more spacious.
The next big project (for me) is the vestibule. I want to make it more welcoming and less of a dumping ground.
As well, as a bit of a paint job, I’m also going to build a shoe storage space, because we just haven’t been able to find anything suitable for the space.
