Today is all about…January 2023

Summary:

A daily photo project turned diary, “Today is all about…” has grown over the years. What did January 2023 bring?

After what could only be described as a whirlwind end to 2022, January feels like it has dropped to a snail’s pace as everyone waits for payday to arrive and our livers to recover!

Point of view

At the beginning of every year, I set goals I would like to achieve. While updating this blog isn’t one of my main 2023 goals, it is something that I wanted to look at.

With my personal website up and running for over 20 years, I decided to look back at how the website has progressed through the years.

As well as the reminiscing, I wanted to look to the future and what changes I have planned for this year.

The Socials

Part of the website updates was to highlight/elaborate on some of my social posts.

Ideally, where possible, I would like these posts to be separate, but I just haven’t had time as it’s been a little hectic at work. And while I got my soapbox out many times in January, this is the one I wanted to highlight:

“Easter” eggs

It seems like every year there are always specific topics that are regurgitated to rule up hate towards someone. Chocolate eggs are one of them.

Before we placed the Christmas decorations back in the loft, the supermarkets filled their shelves with these overpriced delights!

And while that premature ejaculation of these products is its own topic, you always get those screaming about “Easter” missing from the packaging.

Screenshot from a Tweet from JD on January 25 2023 "Another part of the woke agenda, removing the word Easter from Easter eggs and people say just ignore it, get on with your own life. How can we when our whole way of life is slowly being dismantled. Who's offended by the word Easter on an Easter Egg? ? ????????"

Now Jackie is just one of those knuckle draggers who think the past is better than what we are living through now. In fact, it is just all the Mandela effect!

What Jackie believes about the eggs is 100% a blatant lie, which I and my soapbox had great pleasure telling her! Obviously, my findings had to be spread over multiple tweets, so here they are rolled into one

Jesus wept, these gammons literally regurgitating the same old unfounded tripe.

I would also hazard a guess, that this Karen probably also complained about Starbucks and Christmas.

To clarify 2 things for @JackieD86388657

The Scum newspaper did an article about this topic a while back and shock-horror decades without Easter being on the boxes.

EGGSTRA The truth about whether chocolate firms have taken the word Easter off Easter Eggs

However, it also highlights that Cadbury does in fact have easter on them.

Now, this article was written in 2018, what about 2023?

I went to Cadbury’s website picked a random Chocolate Egg, and what’s that I see ‘Easter’ appear on the box…TWICE!

So @JackieD86388657 does that answer your nonexistent rant for another year?

The word Easter hasn’t been removed, because it wasn’t a precedent to actually add it!

And secondly, there are eggs on sale NOW that do have ‘Easter’ on them.

Talking Points

Cross Stitch

After a hectic last month, I needed to relax, so I did a bit of cross stitch to pass the time.

I have been working on a project off and on for over a year, so I want to finish that this year.

Also, I want to try doing other things when it comes to cross stitch and experiencing new things that it brings.

I came across blackwork last year and wanted to give that a try, and I’ve seen a number of patterns that I like too.

I started one in January and I have fallen in love with this style of stitching, so I will definitely be doing more in the future.

Spoiler Alert: I finished the piece a few days into February

Anxiety

I have been very open about my anxiety in the past, and I have made no shame in that or the support I received.

Last year saw me complete my counselling and this year I feel in a good position to start looking at the medication I am on.

So, January saw me reduce the dosage I am on.

The goal is to eventually stop taking them altogether, but that will be a long journey.

But the first step has been made, and I’m so happy.
