I am finally sitting down to give the website some TLC. This includes catching up on the posts I need to do. So let’s get January out of the way!
Talking Points
Home Updates
It’s become a tradition for the husby, and I do some decorating during the first week of the new year.
This year, we decided that the toilet was the next on the list. Since it was a small place, the two of us couldn’t handle all the updates. We also decided to give the bathroom a lick of paint, too. That would be my job.
The toilet got a full replacement bathroom suite, because the stuff that we had was crap. It was also one of my old clients at work, who was just as crap to deal with!
The plan is to replace the main bathroom suite as well, but that will be done at a later date. For now, the intention was to give it a lick of paint. It hasn’t had one since we moved in. However, this then extended into getting some new cupboards that have been on my list for months. I also got some new towels.
I am happy with the outcome of both rooms. I do want to replace the bathroom floor relatively soon, cause it looks like shite right now.
National Trust
We had the week off at the beginning of January. We also wanted to use our National Trust passes. It feels like it has been a while since we last used them.
One of the places we visited was Quarry Bank Mill. I’ve never been there before, but I had a really good time. The most interesting part was the tour of the apprentice house. Then it was watching the mills actually in use.
I was a little disappointed with the house. I think it was more the attitude of the person who showed us in. Additionally, you only got to see two rooms out of the whole house, which felt a little weird!

The second was a revisit to Dunham Massey. We hadn’t been for a few years, so it was nice to go for a walk around the grounds. The house wasn’t open… which I still haven’t been in yet.
I pretend to be an adult (fake till you make it). I spent the walk doing the Speechly the Pineapple Winter Walk. I got my card stamped at several spots. Who really needs to grow up? I promise I didn’t push any kids out of the way to stamp my card.
And obviously, we got to see the deer. It would be wrong to visit Dunham Massey and not see them.
