Today is all about…July 2018

Well, July has been an interesting, but enjoyable, month for a number of reasons.

This month saw us attend two Pride events. The first being Salford’s ‘The Pink Picnic‘, and it has to be said that this year was the biggest and best that they’ve done. This was a mixture of a bigger area in the redeveloped Peel Park, and the glorious weather.

What I like about The Pink Picnic, as well as spending time with friends, it’s nice to see the number of local families that come along with their kids and join in on the celebrations.

I hope that Pink Picnic continues to grow strength to strength.

At the end of the month, we decided to make an impromptu visit to Liverpool Pride.

We went to see our friends Annabelle Lecter who was DJing at Superstar Boudoir. Once she finished her shift, we went for a wander around.

This is our 2nd Liverpool Pride but was a bit more of a fleeting visit. We should really stay over and make a whole thing of it next year.

At the end of last year, we started the process to buy the flat. Let’s put it this way, the whole process has been an absolute nightmare!

I shouldn’t have to tell them what they/we need to do. They were not telling us important information, and we were finding out by 3rd parties. When we’ve tried to contact them, they never respond/return our calls.

The whole process has made me fall out of the idea of buying the flat, and out of love with the place too.

And that’s the most upsetting thing of all. This has been my home for 16 years, and now I am ready to leave because of this.

Which isn’t going to be that long, because this month saw us view and put an offer in on a house. As there is no chain, it should be a relatively quick process.

So the upset of not buying the flat has led to the excitement of buying a house, getting a mortgage and planning the changes we’re going to do to our new pad.

Finally, this month also saw the launch of ‘Bee in the City‘. These are bee sculptures have been designed by artists, local schools, colleges and youth groups, and have been placed throughout the city.

Similar sculpture events have happened around the world, but the worker bee is a symbol of Manchester which became a lot more prominent international wide after the arena bombing. Not only does this event seem apt, but also arriving at the right time.

With over 200 bears around the city, I’m hoping to see all of them before the event ends next month.
