Neighbours is celebrating its 40th anniversary this week. Over the next few days, I’ll be sharing some of my top 10 lists.
Yesterday’s top 10 looked at the iconic families that have walked through Erinsborough. Today, we will look at my top 10 weddings
There have been many marriages over the years, and I’m sure I’ve missed yours. Let me know, which Neighbours wedding do you remember the most?
10. Mark Gottlieb & Annalise Hartman (1994)
Technically there wasn’t a wedding, because Mark jilted Annalise at the altar…to become a priest!

Mark said in 1994, “The truth of the matter is, I can’t marry anyone…”

Mark returned to Erinsborough in 2020 to marry Lucy Robinson as part of the show’s 35th celebrations.
I loved this wedding too, especially because it included nods to the original storyline.

9. Libby Kennedy & Drew Kirk (2001)
There are two things that stick in my mind about Libby and Drew’s wedding.
Firstly the pre-wedding haggis. What fresh fuckery was that about?
Secondly, it was Drew’s rendition of ‘Will You Go Lassie Go,’ which came across as more creepy than romantic.

8. Mackenzie Hargreaves & Hendrix Greyson (2002)
When Hendrix first appeared in Neighbours in 2019, there had always been a spark between him and Mackenzie.
Their relationship started to blossom a year or so later, but it was after Hendrix was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, and required a lung transplant, that Mackenzie agreed to marry Hendrix and got the fairytale wedding that she desired.

A few weeks later, Hendrix suffered complications from the transplant and died, so there was no happy ending here for these two.
7. Toadie Rebecchi & Sonya Mitchell (2013)
Toadie has been competing with Paul to see who can get married the most.
Marriage #3 was to Sonya Mitchell, and while the actual wedding looked like everything was going to go plain sailing. It was the reception that went with a bang…literally.

6. Harold Bishop & Madge Ramsay (1988)
I’ve always remembered the love triangle between Madge, Lou, and Harold, but in the end, it was Harold who won.
I loved this wedding because it was simple and heartfelt. No major dramas, just a lovely episode with plenty of comedy.
5. Paul Robinson & Terese Willis (2019)
Paul has had a few weddings, and each has been memorable in one way or another. However, I think the run-up to his 2019 wedding to Terese Willis was one of the best.
Just as Paul and Terese are finalizing their wedding plans, Paul’s ex-wives appear out of the woodwork to warn Terese not to do it.

Taking this as a sign that they shouldn’t get married, the wedding was off… then on… then off and on again!

Eloping to get married, another ex-wife appeared to warn Terese not to do it, and the wedding was cancelled…again!
When the truth came out that Paul’s daughter was behind the scheme, they finally got married…by Elvis
4. Karl Kennedy & Susan Kennedy (2007)
There was a dark period on Ramsay Street when Karl and Susan were separated due to Karl’s extramarital affairs.
However, the writers eventually reconciled them and brought the Kennedys back together.
We needed something special for Karl and Susan’s wedding, and what could make it more special than getting married on the River Thames by Neil Morrisey, who played the priest?
Their idea of sailing into the sunset took an unexpected turn when Karl’s ex, Izzy, interrupted the celebration by going into labour!
3. Toadie Rebecchi & Dee Bliss (2003)
Toadie and Dee’s wedding was a lovely, sweet affair with all the family around.
It was a wedding you won’t forget, especially when they drove off a cliff on their way to their honeymoon.
2. Arron Brennan & David Tanaka (2018)
Not only was Aaron and David’s wedding the first same-sex marriage on Neighbours, but it was also the first of its kind on an Australian show.
he build-up to the special day created some great TV, with the comedic genius Magda Szubanski playing the registrar, and Karl’s half-sister, Jemima Davies-Smythe, in the mix.
Drama also ensued when Aaron triggered an old injury, preventing him from walking. But alas, miracles happen, and he was able to walk down the aisle after all.

1. Scott Robinson & Charlene Robinson (1987)
I mean, this had to be #1, right? After all, it’s probably one of the most iconic weddings in soap opera history.
Over 20 million people watched Scott and Charlene tie the knot.
This was the fairytale relationship people had dreamed of, and the wedding was just as magical.
